About Me
My name is Christoffer Palm, i’m a 25 Year old male currently residing in Lund, Sweden. This will be a long read, it will cover leading up to my tinnitus and
I’ve been suffering from tinnitus for quite a while now. I can’t remember exactly when I got my first tinnitus symptoms but I can remember noticing it sometimes in very quiet environments around the years 2003-2004.
At first I didn’t think much about it, I barely ever heard it so it wasn’t something I took notice of or really cared about at that time, I was going to school and I had allot going for me so there wasn’t any time to worry about such things, and why would I damage my ears? That only happens to professional musicians and people working in noisy environments anyway doesn’t it?
All trough my young years up to my twenties I had been a avid music listener. I listened to music whenever I could, and preferably at a high volume either while sitting in front of the computer blasting trough my speakers or trough my headphones with my newly bough Minidisc player.
When I wasn’t listening to music I was playing video games, watching movies or at a party at some friends house, constant noise all the time, all day.
Even in my sleep I wasn’t free from noise cause my computer would be on humming away during the night.
After a few years I started to notice my tinnitus more and more, but at first I didn’t want to believe it, I couldn’t possibly have gotten tinnitus, it must be something else so I mostly ignored it only noticing it from time to time after parties with loud music.
It went on like this for a while, it kept getting worse by the years and finally in early 2009 I went to a concert (without ear plugs) and kept on partying afterwards trough the night. At first it was as normal, tinnitus wasn’t worse than it had been before the concert, but then a week later it hit me. My tinnitus had gotten intensely worse and I became extremely sensitive to almost any noise, I had a very loud ringing in my right ear and other hissing and ”white” noises coming and going in both ears.
During this time I barely slept for a week, laying wake most of the night, having severe anxiety and panic attacks on and off. I remember thinking that this was it, my normal life was over, I would have to exile myself to living in solitude avoiding everything to not make it worse.
After a while it got a bit better but I still had very loud tinnitus, I had started using earplugs at work to avoid loud noises and also partying and social events where I knew there would be loud music or noise levels.
At this time I started reading and searching allot on tinnitus on the web for methods or treatments that might help both my sensitive hearing and my tinnitus in a positive way.
This is how I came in contact with LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy) and a guy named Hansi Cross, we talked allot over e-mail for the coming months and he linked me to various sites with information, sending me his hearing tests and talking about the results he got from laser therapy.
At this time I decided to try it for myself, I had heard about a clinic in Sandvika, Norway owned and run by Anne Harila that has been working with various laser treatments for over 35 years. So I contacted Anne and decided on a intensive treatment plan over 5 days with ~3 hours of treatment per day in both ears.
While I was at the clinic Anne introduced me to a affordable home laser that she had been testing for a while manufactured by Konftec Corporation, a company in Taiwan manufacturing high quality medical lasers for a reasonable price.
When I came home I decided to purchase the 660nm module.
